Trim Video Segments in Zenious

When you process a video, Zenious automatically removes unwanted portions of the screen - such as loading screens, idle moments, or excessive mouse movement, while keeping your audio and video in sync. In cases where you want to fine-tune or remove specific portions of the screen, Zenious lets you manually trim or edit video segments across scenes, without disrupting audio–video synchronization.


To trim video segments in Zenious

  1. Open your processed video in Zenious.
    The video and its transcript are displayed on the editing interface.

  2. Identify the segment you want to trim (e.g., a loading screen or unwanted mouse movement). 
    Note: You can use the transcript to locate the exact timeframe you wish to trim.


  3. Choose to trim the video either from the transcript or using the video playback.

Trim using transcript selection

  1. Select the relevant transcript text that matches the unwanted video segment.
    The first and last words of your selection define the trim boundaries.

  2. Choose Trim from the context menu.
    The Trim properties opens.


  3. (Optional) Click the Preview button to review the segment marked for deletion.
    The preview window plays the selected segment.
  4. (Optional) To adjust or modify the trim start and end time, do one of the following:
    1.  Drag the bars to adjust the start or end time
    2. Use adjustment buttons
    3. Type in the start of end time
    4. Adjust the pill on the timeline.

  5.  If satisfied, click Save.
    The trimmed section shows up on the timeline as a red marker.

  6. (Optional) To undo your selection, click the Delete icon next to the red marker.
    The trim selection is removed.

  7. (Optional) To adjust your selection, click the red marker to open the trim properties window and make adjustments dragging the bars, using adjustment buttons, typing in times, or moving the marker. 


Trim using Playback Video

  1.  Play the video and pause at the spot where you want to cut. 
    The video pauses at your chosen frame.
  2. Select the Trim option.
    The trim properties window opens, defaulting to a three-second selection.

  3. Adjust the duration by dragging the bars, using adjustment buttons, typing in times, or moving the marker.
    The selected segment updates accordingly.

  4. (Optional) Preview the change by clicking the Preview button.
    The preview window plays the selected segment.
  5. Click Save when ready.
    The trimmed section is marked with a red marker.
  6.  Click Update to process the video and apply the trim.
    The video is processed, and the trimmed section is removed from the final output.
    Important: The video segment is not removed until you click Update. You can adjust or undo your trims before this step.
